They farmed at Long Whatton, Liecestershire where Agnes, Marion, Martha, Andrewina, William and Andrew were born. James and Andrewina died during this time and their graves can be found in the Parish Church of All Saints, Long Whatton Cemetery. James had died of cerebritis and convulsions, after being kicked by a donkey and Andrewina died in infancy of arrested development and meningitis at one month of age. The Home Farm - Long Whatton, Leicestershire, England  Not far away, at Castle Gresley, Alexander and Marion Smith with their family were farming. Marion Smith was a step-sister to Martha. Marion was the daughter of Marion Craig, the second wife of William Speirs (Martha’s father).
